Future Of Web Design 2011 in NYC

The Future of Web Design 2011 was my first web design conference and I need to be attending more of them.

Here's 5 reasons why I loved it:

HTML + CSS for Beginners

These two sites will take you step by step through the process of creating a site using HTML & CSS from scratch.  It takes patience to go through the tutorials but might just prove useful in the long run.

The basic standards set for HTML and CSS are done by the w3school.

Everyone Needs Air to Breath

...including my design work. This website design isn't going to be used by the company but I put lots of hours into it and think it deserves to have its own post.

Don't fear the internet

Don'tfeartheinternet.com is a resourceful website teaching HTML & CSS in a simple and entertaining way through video. Those two words (HTML & CSS) never mean much to me, I mostly just black them out when I come across them in books or tutorials, but that my change very soon. It's created by Jessica Hische (young, super talented letter designer & illustrator) & Russ Maschmeyer.

HTMLdog.com is a website that will take you step by step through the process of creating a website using HTML and CSS, not assuming you have any background knowledge. Go through the steps on the left side under 'Tutorials' and navigate your way to becoming a pro.

Hear design geniuses shmooze while you work

Just found these web shows on 5by5 and I'm very happy I did. It's playing in the background as I work. They have lots of different shows airing and have compiled quite a large database by now. I'm finding "The Big Web Show" relevant for me talking about thinks like "...web publishing, art direction, content strategy, typography, web technology, and more. It's everything web that matters.
